Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the Toddler Stroller Seat and the Toddler Car Seat?

The Toddler Car Seat is a distinct product from the Toddler Stroller Seat. While both can be used on the Stroller, the Toddler Stroller Seat is more optimized for strolling by being lighter weight and folding compactly since it does not have to meet car seat regulations. Here's a quick breakdown:

Toddler Stroller Seat:

  • Docks onto the Stroller; does not dock onto the car seat Base
  • Optimized for strolling
  • Lighter weight and folds compactly
  • Reclines
  • Has snack pouch
  • Larger Sunshade with Paparazzi Shield extension
  • Weighs approximately 9 lbs

Toddler Car Seat:
  • Docks onto both the Stroller and the Base
  • Optimized for car travel and safety
  • Higher weight than the Toddler Stroller Seat, so intended to be transferred less frequently on and off the Stroller
  • Revolutionizes traveling with your toddler, as you will have a car seat that also functions on the Stroller for trips and in the airport
  • Weighs approximately 21 lbs

What does the Orbit Infant System come with?

The Orbit Infant System is a three-piece system that includes the Infant Car Seat, Base, and Stroller.

It also comes with a maintenance kit (air pump and spare inner tubes), and a Cargo Pod that can be used on or off the Stroller.

Is the Toddler Car Seat a convertible car seat?

Orbit's Toddler Car Seat is a convertible car seat. It can be used both Rear-Facing from 15-35 lbs, and Forward-Facing from 20-50 lbs and under 49 inches. All children under 1 year of age MUST stay Rear-Facing in the car, as required by law. Please note: The Toddler Car Seat can be installed Rear-Facing in your car either on your Base or with the included Side Impact Braces. When it is right for your child to switch to a Forward-Facing position in your car, you must install your Toddler Car Seat with the Side Impact Braces, as the Toddler Car Seat cannot be used Forward-Facing on the Base.

Can I use the Infant Car Seat in a supermarket shopping cart?

Using your Infant Car Seat in a shopping cart:

Orbit and the AAP (American Academy of Pediatrics) believe that placing infant carriers or car seats on top of shopping carts is unsafe. A 2005 study by the AAP found that over 20,000 emergency room visits for children under the age of 5, resulted from shopping cart injuries. Most manufacturers have either warned against using the car seat this way or, as we have, designed it to not fit into an unsafe position. That said, the Orbit Infant Car Seat will sit inside the basket of a shopping cart, although this can limit the amount of space in your cart.

Strolling in the grocery store:

As a solution to grocery shopping with your Orbit Stroller, Orbit's Stroller Panniers are designed as a convenient shopping accessory. You can easily attach both Panniers to the sides of your Stroller frame to use as shopping storage. Each Pannier fits a standard brown grocery bag and can be detached to hand over to the cashier when you are ready to check out.

Do you have any tips for assembling my Bassinet?

The Bassinet must be assembled before use by snapping in place the black metal support bars underneath the Upholstery. You may find that the Bassinet is generally more difficult to deploy the first time you do it, but it does get easier over time.

Here are some tips for deploying the Orbit Bassinet:

  • Loosen the fabric on either side of the black support bar. This can help the bar snap into the hooks easier.
  • It may be easier to lock in one side of the bar at a time: slide the strap to one side of the bar and snap that corner in first, then slide it to the other. Repeat this process on the opposite end of the Bassinet.
  • While it may take some elbow grease, make sure that the bar does not get bent during assembly as this can damage the Bassinet.
Please refer to the Orbit Bassinet Manual for additional information. If you are still not able to deploy your Bassinet, or if you do not think it is functioning properly, please contact us before proceeding.

Where can I store my Toddler Car Seat sunshade?

The sunshade for your Toddler Car Seat is removable and can be easily stored when not in use in the Rear Access Panel. After you remove the sunshade, you'll notice that the sunshade spar is a bendy strip, in the shape of a U. To fit the sunshade into the Rear Access Panel, first hold together the two ends of this sunshade spar U so that you make the whole sunshade narrower. Don't worry about over-bending the sunshade spar as it is very flexible; the plastic fittings at the ends of the sunshade should just cross. Then insert the sunshade, rounded end first, into the large pocket of the Rear Access Panel, so that the fittings are just sticking out of the pocket. You can then clip the Rear Access Panel closed.

Can the Stroller really be folded with one hand?

Yes! Other strollers might claim to be one-handed folding, but the Orbit Stroller can truly be folded with one hand. We were recently featured as the "World's Easiest Folding Stroller" and you can see how easy it is to fold here.
